In the northwest corner of Murcia Province, the
villages, located away from the main roads and
close to the mountains, are unknown places that
are not often visited. As such, they remain relatively
untouched by tourism and the countryside surrounding
the villages is pristine. |

| Moratalla |
A pretty village of 8000 inhabitants
spread around the foot of a fortress. Located
on a plain and backed by mountains, the twisting
streets of the old town lead up to the castle.
From the vantage points of Moratalla, there are
some fantastic views of coutryside surrounding
the village.
In the northwest of Murcia Province, Moratalla
is quite isolated, located away from the main
roads in an unspoilt area.
The nearest large service centre is Murcia, 60km
from Moratella.

| Caravaca
de la Cruz |
Just south of Moratalla,
Caravaca is known for its beautiful landscape
and rich monuments. The church and the fortress
are renowned and the Castle-Sanctuary of Vera
Cruz is worth a look. The surrounding mountains
are good for outdoor activities.
Caravaca is situated at the end of the main
C415 road that connects it with Murcia, 50km
away.

| Cehegin |
Enclosed by mountains and surrounded
by a large forest area, Cehegin’s centre
has been declared to be of historical interest.
Near to the village are 3 caves that contain conserved
prehistoric wall paintings. The village has a
population of 14,000
On the first Sunday of each month, an art market
is held in the El Mesonico Plaza.
Cehegin is located 5km from Caravaca on the main
C415 road that connects it with Murcia, 45km away.

| Bullas |
Situated next to
the Mula River, the town of Bullas has a population
of 10,000. Its steep, stepped and narrow streets
thread their way between the pretty houses of
the town.
On the first Sunday of each month, a market is
held where local fresh produce and handicrafts
are sold.
The campsite at Bullas is open all year round.
Bullas is 5km west of Cehegin on the main C415
road that connects it with Murcia, 40km away.

| Calasparra |
Situated next to
the Argos River and the Sierra del Molino, Calasparra
has a population of 9000. Nearby is the Cave of
Monigotes with its underground lake and prehistoric
cave paintings. In the Cueva del Puerto nearby,
potholing can be practiced. The surrounding countryside
consists of rivers and mountains, and the Canyon
of the Almadenes with its spectacular bed of red
brimstone.
Located away from the main roads, Calaspara is
45km from Murcia.
